FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your farm located?

We are located on the High Plains of Eastern New Mexico, approximately 40 miles northwest of Clovis, NM.

How is the meat shipped?

We ship meat frozen in insulated boxes with ice packs or dry ice to ensure it arrives frozen. Event orders will be transferred in a freezer frozen, bagged, and ready for your freezer.

Can I visit the farm?

We welcome visitors. Please contact us anytime to schedule a visit. We love showing how we care for our land and animals. Can’t make it out to the farm. You can join our email list for the behind the scenes look at what’s happening on the farm.  Also, you can find us on Facebook.

Are your animals 100% grass-fed and finished?

Yes, however we do not use that label. We take that a step further and state that our animals are 100% prairie-fed and finished on the abundance of forage the prairie provides, which gives the meat a clean, rich flavor and supports healthier fats.

How is your farm different from conventional operations?

We raise our animals on pasture year-round and manage our land in a way that enhances the natural cycles of the prairie. We adaptively rotate our animals regularly throughout our pastures to give our animals fresh forage and allow the grazed land to rest and regenerate itself before being touched again.  This allows us not to rely on chemical fertilizers, and our focus is on building life in the soil and producing healthier food.

What nutrients are in your grass-fed lamb meat?

Our lamb is rich in high-quality protein, iron, zinc, vitamin B12, selenium, and other essential nutrients that support immune function, energy, and muscle health.

How does your regenerative farming impact the quality of the meat?

Healthy soil produces nutrient-dense forage, which leads to healthier animals, and better meat. Because our lambs rotationally graze diverse grasses their entire lives, the meat is higher in beneficial fats like omega-3s and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). These fats support heart health, reduce inflammation, and may even aid in weight management and immune function. Compared to grain-fed meat, our lamb has a cleaner fat profile with more of what your body needs, and less of what it doesn’t.

What does your grass-fed lamb taste like?

Our lamb has a clean, mild, and slightly sweet flavor — not gamey or strong like some imported or grain-fed lamb. Also, our lambs are a haired variety, so they don’ t produce the extra lanolin with the wool which gives a strong gamey flavor to the meat.  Our lamb varieties are known for their tender, mild flavor, and because our lambs are 100% grass-fed and finished on native prairie, the flavor is rich but smooth and delicious.

Do you use antibiotics or hormones?

No. We do not use growth hormones or routine antibiotics. Our animals are exposed to a variety of plants that naturally grow on the prairie that serve as a natural medicine for our flock.  We believe food is medicine. If an animal requires treatment for health reasons, it is treated responsibly and removed from our meat program.
